"Blinovitch crisis!" cried the Doctor, as if Peri knew what that meant. "Two - no, three people's timestreams, backing over each other, doubling ahead of themselves, snapping back - Great Rassilon, an overcompensatory retroflow! That's supposed to be impossible!" He was dancing around the console, whence most of the alarms were sounding, even drowning out the groaning of the time rotor. "The Web of Time could snap and unravel!"
"Time Lords? Daleks?" Peri shouted over the noise.
The Doctor looked up with his own irreproducible expression of contempt. "Humans!"
"Humans don't time travel!" Peri objected.
"Not after I catch up with these irresponsible cretins!" snarled the Doctor. "Or rather - before I do!"
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"I'm going to upstream the eventflow and unhappen the holistic enchilada!" He slammed a lever from one end of its groove to the other. The time rotor stilled and Peri was left to scramble after him out the TARDIS doors.
They'd landed in an empty shopping mall parking lot at night. Two people, an old man with wild white hair and a guy a little younger than Peri, and a shaggy dog were clustered around a shiny sportscar.
"You built a time machine," the kid was saying, "... out of a DeLorean?!"
