Lawn chairs in the back yard, viewed through a fogged lens.  July 29, 2006.  8:33 p.m. EDT.

I looked out the kitchen window last night and saw the lawn chairs catching some light from the setting sun, so I got the camera and went outside to photograph the scene.  As soon as I walked outside, the camera lens fogged with the heat and humidity.  So did my eyeglasses.

I had bought a window air conditioner a few weeks earlier during an oppressive Ohio Valley heatwave and had been keeping my camera equipment in a cool room, which was a mistake.  I shot the picture anyway, and wasn't displeased with the effect.  Still, I'm keeping my camera out of the air conditioning from now on.

By the way, can you find the cat in this picture?
