     This hearse is one of about a dozen that were painted and set out in various locations in central Kentucky to build excitement for the Hustonville Haunted House, a Halloween attraction open the entire month of October.  This picture was taken in Harrodsburg in 2003, but the Hustonville Haunted House is in business again this year.
     Hustonville is a village in Lincoln County about 20 miles south of Harrodsburg.  According to the haunted house website (see below), the haunted house is run by the Hustonville police and fire departments.


     Harrodsburg, founded in 1774, is the oldest permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains.  It's also the seat of Mercer County, and is in the central part of the state.
