Terry Crawford, a farmer from Franklin County. October 6, 2002. 7:11 p.m. EDT. |

Crawford is in his late 40s. He still lives on the farm where he was
born; after his parents died, he stayed on the place. He does a little
farming, hay and tobacco, and supplements his farm income with various "public"
jobs. A lifelong bachelor, Terry lives simply. He eats little and works hard. I'm not sure if the old farmhouse where he has lived all his life even has electricity or indoor plumbing. I do know that he has no interest in television or other elements of the popular culture. Terry has a quick mind and an impish sense of humor. He always has a pet dog and a couple or three riding horses. He loves his animals and treats them well. He has a wide circle of family, friends and acquaintances; he is by no means a hermit. I've known Terry Crawford for a little more than 10 years now, yet this photo, above, is one of few that I have taken of him. Terry lives in northwestern Franklin County, which is in the central part of the state. |
