Photographer's comments:
Benson Creek is the primary stream in western Franklin County.  Like other creeks in the area, it runs right down to limestone bedrock.  In the dry season, such as in this photo, North Benson Creek is a stretch of rock with occasional shallow pools of water.  But after heavy rains, the creek quickly becomes a torrent and often floods adjacent fields and roads.
The privately owned bridge in this photo has been damaged a number of times by the flooding creek.  Note the bridge approach at left, which has yet to be repaired from the last flood.  This photo was taken from another bridge, over the north fork of North Benson Creek, which joins North Benson Creek at this point.
