Mark's Submarine Pictures and Links

I served 6 years in the Navy (1982 - 1988). The last 4.5 years aboard Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Submarines. I am very proud to be able to say that I was a Submarine Warfare qualified sailor and entitled to wear the dolphins. The pictures on this page are from my time aboard the USS Mariano G. Vallejo, SSBN 658. An ex-Vallejo sailor has created a wonderful site dedicated to the BEST boat of the "41 For Freedom". I also served a quick (3 month) tour aboard the USS Stonewall Jackson, SSBN 634 just prior to the end of my enlistment.

The Vallejo moored in Barbados (1987). Notice the TV antenna tilting off the upper right side of the sail.
The British aircraft carrier HMS Hermes had the privilege of mooring astern of our sub.

Wedged between the tubes - I don't remember why, but it was funny at the time.
