The Doll
The body (make 2)
- With size F hook and body color yarn, ch 19
- Row 1-24: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (18 st)
- Row 25: Sl st in next 5 st, ch 1, sc in next 8 st, ch 1, turn (leave last 5 st unworked) (8 st)
- Row 26: [For one piece only, switch to yellow yarn to match hair color so
the "scalp" doesn't show thru much] Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (8 st)
- Row 27: 2 sc in the first st, sc in next 6 st, 2 sc in next st, ch 1, turn (10 st)
- Row 28: 2 sc in the first st, sc in next 8 st, 2 sc in next st, ch 1, turn (12 st)
- Row 29: 2 sc in the first st, sc in next 10 st, 2 sc in next st, ch 1, turn (14 st)
- Row 30: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (14 st)
- Row 31: 2 sc in the first st, sc in next 12 st, 2 sc in next st, ch 1, turn (16 st)
- Row 32-36: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (16 st)
- Row 37: Dec by sc next 2 st together, sc in next 12 st, dec by sc next 2 st together, ch 1, turn (14 st)

- Embroider the doll's face.
- With right sides together, sew the two pieces together leaving the bottom edge open.
- Turn right side out and stuff with fiberfil.
- Sew up the bottom edge.
- Attach hair. Use whatever method you prefer, I simply cut strands twice
as long as I wanted and pulled them thru the horizontal threads between every
other row of sc and tied them in a simple overhand knot. After I had the
back of her head covered and a few short strands for bangs attached, I made a
braid (3 groups of 3 lengths of yarn) and tacked it around the top of her head.
The arms (make 2)
- With size F hook and body color yarn, ch 2
- Rnd 1: 5 sc in the 2nd st from the hook, mark end of rows but do not join
- Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around
- Rnd 3: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around
- Rnd 4-12: Sc in each st around
- Stuff this bit of the arm, flatten the open end and you'll be working
a row straight across thru both layers to form the elbow.
- Row 13: Sc thru both layers across, ch 1
- Now you will be returning to working in rounds.
- Rnd 14: Sc in one loop only in each st across, then sc in the other loops returning across the other side
- Rnd 15-24 Sc in each st around
- Stuff this bit of the arm, flatten the open end and you'll be working
a row straight across thru both layers to form the shoulder joint.
- Row 25: Sc thru both layers across, fasten off leaving a long tail for
sewing.
- Sew the arm to the top of the side of the doll's body.
The legs (make 2)
- With size F hook and black yarn, ch 2
- Rnd 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, mark end of rows but do not join
- Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around
- Rnd 3: * Sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next st, repeat from * around
- Rnd 4: Sc in each st around
- Rnd 5: Sc in next 5 st, dec by sc next 2 st together, sc in next 5 st, hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st
- Rnd 6: Sc in next 4 st, dec by sc next 3 st together, sc i next 4 st, hdc i next st, 2 hdc in next 2 st, hdc in next st
- Rnd 7: Sc in next 3 st, dec by sc next 3 st together, sc in next 3 st, hdc in next 2 st, 2 hdc in next 2 st, hdc in next 2 st
- Rnd 8: Sc in next 7 st, hdc in next 8 st
- Rnd 9-12: Sc in each st around
- Fasten off black and join body color yarn
- Rnd 13-22: Sc in each st around
- Stuff this bit of the leg, flatten the open end and you'll be working
a row straight across thru both layers to form the knee.
- Row 23: Sc thru both layers across
- Now you will be returning to working in rounds.
- Rnd 24: Sc in one loop only in each st across, then sc in the other loops re
turning across the other side
- Row 25-38: Sc in each st around
- Stuff this bit of the leg, flatten the open end and you'll be working
a row straight across thru both layers to form the hip joint.
- Row 23: Sc thru both layers across, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing
- Sew the leg to the side of the bottom edge of the doll's body.
Bloomers
Starting at the side waist and working downwards...
- With size G hook and white yarn, ch 41, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch 1
- Rnd 1: Sc in each st across, join with sl st to first sc, ch 3 (40 st)
- Rnd 2: Dc in next 8 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 20 st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 9 st, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3 (42 st)
- Rnd 3: Dc in the same st, dc in next 9 st, * 2 dc in next st, dc in next 10 st, repeat from * once more, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 9 st, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3 (46 st)
- Rnd 4-5: Dc in each st around, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3 (46 st)
- Rnd 6 (starts first leg): Dc in next 10 st, skip the next 24 st, dc in next 11 st, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3 (22 st)
- Rnd 7-9: Dc in each st around, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3 (22 st)
- Rnd 10: Dec by dc next 2 st together, dc in next 8 st, Dec by dc next 2 st together, dc in next 9 st, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3 (20 st)
- Rnd 11: Dc in next 2 st, dec by dc next 2 st together, * dc in next 3 st, dec by dc next 2 st together, repeat from * around, fasten off
For the crotch and second leg...
- Join white yarn thru the same stitches as the 10th and 11th st of Rnd 6, sl st thru both layers for 2 st to form the crotch, ch 3
- Rnd 6: Working in only one layer now to form the second leg, dc in next 21 st, join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 3
- Rnd 7-11: Repeat as for the first leg
Finishing...
- For the trim on both legs, with size G hook, join blue yarn to any st of Rnd 11
- Rnd 12: *Ch 3, sc in next st, repeat from * around, fasten off.
- Weave a drawstring or some elastic thread thru the waist of the bloomers.
Dress
Starting at the front waist and working upwards for the bodice...
- Ch 17
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn (16 st)
- Row 2-6: Sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (16 st)
- Working the left side...
