Textiles - Household Items - Pillowcase, tatting trim, any color
Red Ribbon - Second Place
The pattern is a double row of the traditional "Hens and Chicks"
pattern, minus the decorative picots (I prefer my hens bald! *grin*).
The actual stitch counts I used are from The Complete Book of Tatting
by Rebecca Jones.
The thread is DMC tatting thread, size 80, in ecru.
The tatting is attached using Aileen's OK-to-Wash-it fabric glue as
my wrist just isn't up to the hand-stitching.
Textiles - Household Items - Pincushion, any type or material
The pattern is from The Complete Book of Tatting by Rebecca
Jones.
If I had it to do over, I would use a different medallion for
the toe portion of the baby bootie.
The thread is DMC tatting thread, size 80, in white.
Textiles - Miscellaneous Needlework - Article in tatting
Blue Ribbon - First Place
The pattern is from the November/December 1998 issue of Piecework
magazine. That pattern is just loaded with typos and omissions. This is
my fourth attempt, and I think I've finally got it figured out! If I get
around to straightening out my notes, I'll send a corrected version to
the editor. Hopefully, they will make it available to everyone.
The thread is DMC Cordonnet Special, size 100, in white.
The pattern calls for size 40 thread, to make a bonnet for a baby.
I used a smaller thread so it would fit a doll.
