May 2002 Hike Log
- 5 May: Red River Gorge: The were a total
of 26 hikers. Hike leader Jim W.. The larger portion did
did a tough but beautiful 8-mile hike starting from the
Angel Windows trailhead led by Jim W. Some did a shorter
hike. About 12 ate later at Cantuckee Diner in Winchester
afterward. Several people went down Friday night or
Saturday morning to make a camping weekend of it (despite
the cold mornings).
- 12 May: Mount St. Francis: 27 hikers did
a leisurely hike with David Taylor identifying local
wildflowers, windy and warm, hike leader David T. About 8
hikers went to to a cookout at Ed Green's afterward.
- 19 May: Otter Creek Park: A total of 31
people participated. The main group of 23, led by Pat D.,
intended to do the Otter Creek Trail (blue trail), but
since part of it was underwater, diverted to the yellow
trail at the lower part of Otter Creek for a total of
about 8 miles. A smaller group, led by Anne C.?, did a
shorter hike on the yellow and red trails. 50s and sunny.
Most ate at Mike Linnig's afterward.
- 26 May: Mogan Ridge East: 14 hikers did
a comfortable 6 miles with deep woods, prarie plants, and
views of the Ohio River. Hike leader: Anne C.
