February 2001 Hike Log
- Hike in Charlestown (Indiana) State Park., 4 Feb.:
- St. Valentines Day Party at
Anne C.s house, Sat. 10 Feb.
- Hike to the Stonehenge of Indiana
in the Hoosier National Forest near Houston, Ind., 11 Feb.:
Several people did a moderate 5-6 mi. hike (round trip) to the top of Browning Hill (alt. 900 ft).
On top, saw an unusual rectangle of sandstone that some say is man-made.
- Walk planning meeting and supper, Tue. 13 Feb.
at the Irish Rover: After some discussion, we decided to no longer advertise the Thursday walks,
since no one has volunteered to "host" them.
- Hike planning meeting and dinner, Wed. 14 Feb. at Clifton's Pizza.:
About five of us met, ate pizza, and planned out the hikes through April and tentatively through May.
- Hike at Doe Run near Brandenburg, Ky., 18 Feb.:
Larry led about 20 people on an uncharacteristically easy 2-mile hike past Buttermilk Falls in Brandenburg,
shorter hikes to the two dams on Doe Run near the Doe Run Inn, where most of us had dinner.
The weather was pleasant for February.
- Hike in Clifty Falls State Park., 25 Feb.:
About 17 people hiked around 7 miles along the rims of the Clifty Creek gorge.
The weather was beautiful this day, but recent rains made the falls
well worth the visit.
A small group ate at Chicago Pizza in Hanover.
