KISHAW
January 2001 Hike Log
- Hemlock Cliffs, 7 Jan.:
Relatively warm weather brought out 23 hikers
and 1 dog (plus a photographer and her mother).
Larry led the group on a shortened version of his
interesting hike past frozen waterfalls
and rock shelters, hiking a bit over 4 miles in the snow.
Most ate at the Overlook in Leavenworth afterward.
- Knobstone Trail, 14 Jan.:
The weather was again relatively warm (low 40s), but
very gray.
Six men hiked north from the Leota trailhead, doing
about 5 miles round trip.
They met one other hiker; he was wearing
a lot less than they were.
- Patoka Lake, 21 Jan.:
More snow had fallen, but the hikers were out again.
Fifteen hiked about 6.5 miles--taking the shortcut balanced
out the extra distance from losing our way once.
Several dined yet again at the Overlook.
- Otter Creek Park, 28 Jan.:
Several hikers did a brisk hike, covering about 5 miles
in about 2 hours.
(Some wanted to get home to see some football game ...)
