September 2000 Hike Log

• Gauley River in West Virginia, 1-3 Sep.: Seven people went on this white-water rafting trip, camping nearby. The camping was not great, but the rafting was fun once one of the guides was set straight.
• Shaw Lake, 10 Sep. About 8 people hiked here instead of on the Knobstone Trail.
• Hemlock Cliffs, 17 Sep. About 17 people went on a long hike (~7 mi.) past falls, cliffs and rock shelters.
• Red River Gorge, 24 Sep. Despite rain in Louisville, six people drove to RRG and hiked about 5 mi., including the Indian Staircase. Only at the very end of the hike was there a little rain.
