May 2000 KISHAW Hike Log

Hemlock Cliffs, 7 May: Due to the appearance of rain and a an accident that blocked I-64 near Corydon, only three people went to Hemlock Cliffs. One hiked separately from the other two and got caught in the rain.

Lake Monroe, 14 May: Three people decided to hike somewhere closer and had a good hike. Three did go up to Lake Monroe and had a pleasant, easy hike with hardly any slope.

Knobstone Trail, 21 May: No info.

Red River Gorge, 28 May: Six met at the McD's on Shelbyville Rd., including two new.  We drove through a terrible rainstorm on the way.  We got to the rest stop and met two more regulars. Because of the uncertain weather we went to hike at Natural Bridge SP.  Of course as we hiked we did get caught in a total drencher of a downpour.   Since we could not get any wetter, we just kept going and enjoyed the refreshing rain.  We got split up in the low visibility and got to see more which just made for a truly beautiful hike and dried off at the same time. By the time we finished hiking the sun had returned and it was great day. -HL
