Indian Lake, 6 Feb.: We had planned to do the Celina Lake half of the Two Lakes loop trail, but the 19 or so hikers did the Indian Lake half instead. We hiked about 6 miles in maybe an inch of snow. Most ate afterward at the Overlook in Leavenworth.
Berea College Forest, 13 Feb.: Eight people started from Louisville, met two in Lexington and drove to Berea in the rain. When we got there, it was still raining heavily, so we hung out in a coffee shop and visited other shops nearby. Four went home. The others visited more shops and had a late lunch at Papa Leno’s. Then it finally stopped raining (after 3!). We headed over to the Forest and hiked up to the end of the East Pinnacle and back, for about a 4-mile hike.
St. Valentine’s Day party, 13 Feb.: Around 18 people went to Pablo’s party (though not all at once; those who went to Berea arrived late). Some learned salsa and merengue dancing. All had a nice time.
Movie night, 18 Feb. (not Jan.): Ten hikers and walkers gathered at Baxter Avenue Theaters, then split up to see two different movies.
Harrison-Crawford State Forest, 20 Feb.: About 22 people did part of the Adventure Hiking Trail west of IN 462, covering some 5 miles. Some ate at Magdalena’s in Corydon afterward.
Clifty Falls State Park, 27 Feb.: The weather was not nearly as warm as the day before, but 28 people and 1 dog came on this hike. We did trails 9, part of 5 , 4 and 1 for a hike of almost 5 miles, then visited Big Clifty Falls and Little Clifty Falls. In all four named falls we saw, the water was profuse. Most of us ate at the Pines buffet in Madison.
