November 1999 KISHAW Hike Log

Hike in Otter Creek Park, 7 Nov.: About 20 people hiked the 8-mile Blue trail in nice weather. (About 4 more missed the group and hiked separately.) Many ate at the Doe Run Inn in Brandenburg.

Hike in the Red River Gorge, 14 Nov.: On another mild day, 19 hikers did a moderate 4-mile hike on the Rock Bridge trail, then did the short trails to Chimney Top Rock and Princess Arch, for a total of 5 miles or so. Then we filled up at the Cantuckee Diner’s buffet (in Winchester).

Hike at Hemlock Cliffs, 21 Nov.: Twenty-two people came on this rugged, 7-mile hike. We hiked trails and bushwhacked, visiting rock shelters, caves and cliffs. The temperature reached the low 60s. A majority ate afterward at the Overlook Restaurant (in Leavenworth, Indiana).

Thanksgiving pot-luck breakfast, 25 Nov.: About 33 people met at Bob’s house for good food and togetherness.

Hike on the Knobstone Trail, 28 Nov.: Twenty people hiked north from the New Chapel trailhead; 17 hiked back for about a 6-mile round trip, while 3 continued to the Leota trailhead (9 mi.). Most ate at Schuler’s in Henryville.
