A total of 22 people went on a camping/hiking/rafting trip to Breaks Interstate Park, 1-3 Oct. We had a good hike Saturday and a fun, but short, white-water raft trip on the Russell Fork on Sundayand good food. A few also visited a music festival in nearby Haysi, Va. Saturday night.
Meanwhile, about 23 people hiked about 6 mi. on the Riverwalk on the 3rd. (Activities for 45 people!)
About a dozen attended the pot-luck and meeting on the 6th at Bryans house. We planned hikes through January, but didnt tackle other issues.
Only two people showed up on the 10th for the planned McCormicks Creek hike, so we canned it. Rain the day before and threatening skies probably kept people away.
Six people hiked at Patoka Lake on the 17th. They did the whole 6.5 mi. and had no trouble with ticks.
Only 4 did the pot-luck and night hike on the 22nd, but had a short, pleasant hike along Beargrass Creek and the Ohio.
On the 24th, 15 people did a rugged 6.5-mi. through hike on the Knobstone Trail from IN 160 to the Jackson Rd. trailhead.
On Halloween day (31 Oct.), at least 33 people joined in a walk through the gentle hills of historic Cave Hill Cemetery. We stopped many times to observe interesting or monuments, waterfowl, etc., but may have walked seven miles. A small group ate at Wicks Pizza afterward.
