Vernon-Douglas Nature Preserve , 1 Aug.: Thirteen people (1 or 2 new) hiked the 3.5 mile trail in hot weather. Most ate afterward at The Kitchen in Shepherdsville.
Mount St. Francis , 8 Aug.: About a dozen hiked 4 miles or so in intermittent light rain. A larger number enjoyed a spread-out potluck dinner at Jim P's house.
John J. Audubon State Park , 15 Aug.: Five people drove to Henderson for this hike. They hiked around four miles, visited the museum, and returned to Louisville.
Dixieland concert , 15 Aug.: Meanwhile, six people attended a concert among the trees in Brown Park.
Clifty Falls State Park , 22 Aug.: This hike brought out 19 people (about 4 new). We hiked Trail 2 along the creek bed and parts of Trail 4 and the road for at least a 5-mile loop. Several ate at the Pines buffet in Madison.
Cherokee Park , Friday 27 Aug.: Only four people went on this night walk. We decided to do the 2.5-mile paved Scenic Loop instead of a trail.
Wyandotte Cave and Lake , 29 Aug.: Fourteen people (3 new) took the 2-mile Mountain tour at Wyandotte Cave, then did about a two-mile hike around the nearby lake, visiting Sharpes Spring (which was not impressive under the conditions). Several ate at Magdalena's in Corydon.
