June 1999 KISHAW Hike Log

Patoka Lake, 6 June: Ten people went on this hike. The weather was so hot that they had to cut it short (some shorter than others). Ticks were really bad (for some reason, they tend to be especially numerous in southwestern Indiana in the summer). The hikers ate at nearby Wickliffe Plaza.

13 June: A hike at Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park was planned, but when only one person showed up, he decided not to go.

Spring Mill (Indiana) State Park, 20 June: Nineteen people (5 or 6 new) went on this hike. They split into groups: some visited the Pioneer Village, then hiked four or five miles, while some picnicked first. Several swam at the pool afterward. Some of them ate at the lodge (the non-swimmers didn't want to wait for it to open).

Harrison-Crawford State Forest, 27 June: Four people hiked about a two-mile loop trail in the rain. They decided to cut it short when a thunderstorm hit.
