Charlestown State Park, 4 Apr.: About 12 people hiked in mild, sunny weather, of whom 11 did all three trails.
Crossley Game Reserve, 11 Apr.: About 20 people hiked (about 4 new?) at this huge fish and game wildlife reserve near Vernon, Ind., doing about a 7-mile through-hike. The terrain was varied, with rock shelters and a cave along the Muscatatuck River. A smaller group ate afterward at Wick's Pizza in Louisville.

18 Apr.: We had planned to go to Raven Run Nature Preserve, but the four who showed up decided they had other things to do.
Hemlock Cliffs, 25 Apr.: About 18 people (about 6 new) hiked a slightly different path here than before, for about a six-mile hike, on a beautiful, sunny day.
Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, 23-25 Apr.: Four of us camped at Bandy Creek campground, arriving about 1 a.m. Friday night. On Saturday, we hiked the Honey Creek loop trail and various side trails, a hike rugged and scenic enough that it took 7 hours to hike the 7 miles. We saw numerous rock shelters, waterfalls, colorful and interesting rock formations, ate lunch at a scenic overlook of the river, and saw more of the above. On Sunday, we went to see a pair of "chimneys" (tall, isolated rock outcroppings), hiked around Twin Arches, took a shortcut that turned out to be a 20-mile jeep road (fortunately, we were in a Jeep) and headed home after a brief stop at a state park. The weather was beautiful both days, except for the chilly mornings.
