After sleeping late, I had a late breakfast with others at the house.
Later, Krishna and I were invited next door for lunch. This is a very modern-looking house, with white stucco walls and railings made of steel bars. We were led into the third floor, where we sat in the living room (which could have been in a middle-class house in the U.S.) for a while with the family. We were presented with gifts--a pair of new stainless steel dinner plates each. Then we were brought into the smaller dining room for the meal.
Back at the Koneru house, I lay down on a cot and slept for two hours.
Krishna, Srinivas, Vasu, Suresh (who drove) and I went to Kanakadurga temple and the temple of Shiva (note: Shiva has a short "I") on the hill Indrakila adjacent to Vijayawada. Since it was all a religious structure, we had to spend a long time without sandals. It was difficult to avoid stepping in puddles. It was interesting seeing all the worshipers, priests and vendors. We received blessings in various temples, although there was a dispute over payment at one.
We had planned to go to Kondapalle, a town known for its temple and its craftsmen, but because Srinivas could not leave town (another wedding requirement) and concern (by others) that my diarrheawould return, we stayed in Vijayawada and did a little shopping there.
There was another puja that evening for women. After we men returned, we had a late dinner--another meal on leaves, served on the patio.
