Twin Bridges Trail, Brender Demonstration Forest

Middle Georgia has two Twin Bridges trails! For the longer trail next to Lake Sinclair, go here.

This trail features wildflowers in the spring. It is on the delta formed by the junction of Falling Creek and Caney Creek. The trail is very easy, a loop about one quarter mile long on level ground.

The trail is part of the Brender Demonstration Forest, south of the Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, and is managed jointly by the Oconee National Forest and the Georgia Forestry Commission.

This trail may be suitable for persons with limited mobility. For facilities designed for the handicapped, Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, is nearby.

For a longer walk, try the nearby Hitchiti trail.

Access

The Twin Bridges Trail is about three-quarters miles east of the headquarters for the Brender Forest. From Interstate 75, take either the Juliette or Georgia Route 18 exits east and follow the signs toward Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site. As you approach Jarrell Plantation, you will start seeing signs for the Brender Forest headquarters. At the headquarters, there will be a road with a sign for the Caney Church. Follow that road about three quarters of a mile. The trailhead is between the two bridges.

Caution: Hunting is allowed anywhere in the National Forest, except where specifically prohibited. We recommend you stay away from active hunting areas, unless you are familiar with the hazards and appropriate precautions. Hunting is prohibited in certain popular recreation areas. Also, the whole National Forest is free of hunting certain parts of the year. Contact the ranger station for details.
