Fringed Campion, Silene polypetala

I chose this showy flower for the Middle Georgia Outdoors banner because it grows few places other than wooded areas near Macon. It can also be found in the vicinity of the Flint and Apalachicola Rivers into the Florida Panhandle, and is a Federal endangered species.

Another choice even more specific to Middle Georgia is the Ocmugee scullcap, Scutellaria ocmulgee. However, the beautiful asymetrical flower is beyond my artistic ability!
