About Aperts

UPDATE: Teeters page has grown, and grown, there is now a list server, a archieve of it, online scrap book, online chat's on Sunday nights, and even a yearly reunion!!! You Just need to visit to believe it!

Aperts is a birth defect that affects the hands and feet, as well as the bones in the head. It is a rare disorder (not as rare as I thought it was) that Rosemarie is affected with. To us it is no big deal, she has no real problems with anything related to it (beside a slight dental problem). We are planning to start our family and wanted to know as much about Apert Syndeome as we could so we started looking around. First we went to doctors and got a little infomation from them. Then we went to our local Childrens hospital and they introduced us to a couple here in Cincinnati that has had a newborn with aperts. We have become good friend with this couple, and have had the chance to get to know their daughter and her older brother as they have grown over the years. They gave us several articles on Aperts and we gave them some. Later we met again and they introduced us to another couple here locally.
In the mean time We found a wonderful source of information and several great new friends on the internet. Don and Cathy Sears have a little girl who has Aperts and started up a Page on the Internet (their address is below) and it is Great. Through
Teeter's page we have met face to face with Cathy, Don and Elizabeth(Teeter) Sears (several times and really consider them good friends), The Deacons, the Contrinos, and a few other families with aperts. We have also been in contact by E-Mail (and America On-line's Instant messanger) with several other families and individuals, We have met with a really nice group of people in Columbus, Ohio from their local About Face chapter.

Meeting so many people and children has been great. One thing I (George) can say that I've really noticed is that each of these individuals has a personality that is freindly, outgoing, and really uplifting. The smiles on the faces always makes me give one back.

Getting into this I never thought we would find so many supportive friends in so many places in the world, Most of which we owe to Don and Cathy sears for starting Teeters page.

I could List a lot about Aperts, however Teeter's page is really the place to go for information about aperts on the Internet.

You can also feel free to ask either my wife or I anything you wish. No Question will go unanswered unless it is really, really personal! and then it might still get answered so be careful what you ask.

To find out more about aperts ask either one of us or see our friends page, a lot of good infomation is available here.

HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE APERTS REUNION!!

About George

My name is George, This page is written by me for Me, My wife Rosemarie, Tiny , Frog, Little Foot, and the late Big Foot. We got married on April 22, 1995 and have started our own family. We are as of May 2000 still childless, but working on it. I'm a computer programmer for a leasing company and do some consulting for a few of our customers.

I was born in Baton Rouge, La on June 16, 1967 and have moved around a lot as a child. My wife and I met back in 93 Line dancing at a Place in Covington, Ky called "The River Saloon" We started dating in August after talking outside during a really bad concert with Ricky Lynn Gregg (Country Singer) [side note for the one band member that contacted me, I meant bad as in not good] and it was all it took, I think we both knew it was meant to be very early in our relationship, we did wait almost a year before getting engaged and then about another seven months before getting married. It gave us time to get to know one another. We Got an apartment together and then rented a house for a while, and in March 2000 we bought our first house!!! Some people think we are crazy for where it is, but we enjoy it. It's located next door to Rosemarie's Parents house... and if that's not crazy enough for you there is a Country Sherrif living next door on the other side... Gotta be good now you know!!

You can see some of my none computer hobbies at

All these pictures are taken by me, although Rosemarie might have snapped 1 or two when she used my camera. Any comments are welcome.

About Rosemarie

UPDATED MAY 2000

Still working on getting her to write something for this area. You are more than welcome to write her to get her going on this!!

What I can tell you about her is probably listed elsewhere on here but for what it's worth. She is a Customer Service Repersentive at a local bank She handles customers, customers money, and has made may friends and won awards for her service. She has been at the bank for about 8 years.

Her hobbies are varied, she is getting into the computer more and more, esp. since I set her up her own computer. If you email her chances are you will get a return message!!

We Bowl on a winter leauge once ever other week, neither on of us is great at it, her average is about 118 to 120..

We travel as much as we can, we like to drive because you see more that way. We try to visit Myrtle Beach at least once a year, and hit Flordia when we have the time. We also like to visit the Smokey Mountains.

She also makes baby blankets crocheting (sp) and other items.

These are the things I personally admire about Rosemarie, her courage, she is stronger that I am here without thinking about something. I also admire her ability to make and keep new friends. It's a standing joke with us that she know half the state and is releated to the other half. I think having Aperts and what she must have went through as a child has given her both of these.

She's married to me so she's got to be a good person!!! I've put her through a lot over the years, including a short time where my mother lived with us for about 6 months right after we got married. We've had some great times and we've had some bad times, but she's always put us first above herself.

UPDATE: new email for Rosemarie

About Our Pets

updated May 2000
WOW!

Check back here to learn more about Our Pets, or should I say our furry family members. We first adopted two adoriable little Prarie dogs, Tiny and Frog. See their Pictures then when we went on vacation to see the Sears family in South Carolina they told us a pet store had a pair of them for sale. Well we just wanted to see them because Cathy and Don told us how big they were and that they looked bigger than the pictures of our guys. Well we went to see them one night and felt sorry for the little guys, they had them eating dry cat food, no place to exercise, and worst of all they were in cedar shavings. Well the next day was our last day and we wanted to do something for them so we went and purchased them. They had enough nerve to ask if we knew anything about them when it was obvious they new nothing.

The first pair's names are Frog and Tiny. They are two females who are really tame. The names were given to them at the pet store where we got them and fit them very well. Frog likes to jump and Tiny was about 2/3 the size of Frog when we got her. They make great pets and like to be played with and climb all over you. One of their favorite games is to climb to the top of your head and sit there. They love to play Super Prairie dog by climbing up on top of one of my speakers and jumping off. I keep telling them They are going to get hurt but do you think they listen?

They love to eat apples, corn-on-the-cob, and most of all sunflower seeds (which we use as treats since too many are not good for them), Most of their diet consist of a few Rodent Blocks and Timithoy grass. They live in a two layer cage that we made for them and love to dig in the lower part which is contains pine shavings.

The second Pair are from South Carolina and therefore talk funny (just kidding) Their names are Little Foot and Big Foot, these names came from Rosemarie's Parents. One of the guys is still scared of everything and a little protective over his burrow. The other one Little Foot is now living with the two females. So far all Big Foot does is let us pet him on his backs. He has bitten me three times, getting blood twice and bruised me once through a leather glove! I wouldn't think of handling him with bare hands as of today ( Nov 15, 96). I've got to try some of tameing tricks in Pat Storer's book. Right now he lives in a 90 Gal. Aquirum, as soon as I can get around to building it, it will have a second level like the above picture.

By the way the above picture is wrong! The girls live in a 150 gal. Aquirum with the same top level as is in the picture. Look back soon for a picture! I want to make some sort of nesting box for them also, but all it time.

If you would like to know more about Prairie Dogs Pat Storer Writes an excellent book called of all things Prairie Dog Pets. It is the best source of information I've seen and the book is fun to read! You can contact the author at http://www.animals-for-sale-ww.com/rzu2u.htm

You can also read about them in the FAQ located at ACME PET!. There are a few other links around the Web and as I will add them here in time.

UPDATE: Since this was written we acquired 2 more Pairie Dogs from Pat Storer, Midas, a Beautiful golden Prairie dog (specail breed) and Zip. Rosemarie's Sister adopted Zip and we kept Midas. A friend of ours has Little foot, and Big foot has passed away from liver disease. This leaves us with a total of three living with us. The two girls live in the 150 Gal aquirum and Midus lives in a 2 story cage.

I'm a Programmer for a Leasing company in Cincinnati, Ohio First America Corporation who is available for small to medimum consulting jobs. I write programs in Visual Basic both for Dos and Windows as well as working on designing web pages. This is my first attempt at a web page and is always under improvement as I learn new things. This Web page Features Animated Graphics, Javascript's, VBScript, floating frames, and ActiveX controls. To get the most from this page please use Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.0 beta 2 or better. Although most features appear (downgraded) in lesser Browsers.

I'm available for Dos and Windows programming, Web Page design, and consulting. If you have a need for my services Leave me a message and I'll get back with you. Also if there is something you would like to see on the page or any suggestions for improving it let me know.

Just in case you are wondering, This page is meant to show off some of the features of Microsoft Internet Explorer. As well as be a little flashy. The high tech toys on this page do slow the initial load down a little but at 9600 baud or above it is barely noticed.

UPDATE: Well I decided to make the page a little simpler. I Removed some JAVA Scripts and some ActiveX components.
