The Triangle Arts Group [TAG] presents QUEERING SOUND 03 [ RE:UNITED ], its third annual staging of alternative performance and collaborations from lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer artisans, for two afternoon performances, Saturday 31 May and Sunday 01 June at the District of Columbia Arts Center, 2438 18th Street NW, Washington DC, at 3:00 p.m. Admission [available at the theater door] is $5.00 each // $4.00 DCAC members.

>> Spokenword performance poet and writer Eryca Kasse; coordinator for mothertongue - DC Women's Spoken Word. [Sunday 01 June performance only.]

>> DC-based sound artist BLK w/ BEAR [Kuma-Chan Records] will present two temporal turntable installations and loop compositions based upon deconstructions of Throbbing Gristle "United" and Peaches & Herb "Reunited." He will also stage a live performance of his loop composition, mpala the glass the eye-tooth trara, accented with live improvisation from Doug Poplin [cello], Peter Moffett [percussion], and audience narration of Dada poet Richard Huelsenbeck's text.

>> Monica A. Hand, poet and aspiring book artist. A limited-edition book work of her haiku, Seven Seasons of Separation and Loss of Seven Seasons Lost, a collaboration with TAG artists Frederick Nunley and Steven Stichter, was issued in January 2003 by 7 Hands Press.

>> Visual artists participating in Queering Sound 03 include TAG members Allison B. Miner, Ira Tattelman, Frederick Nunley, and Ruth Trevarrow, as well as new media artisan John Nick Pull.

>> Dan Vera, a Cubano Radical Faerie poet, is Associate Editor of White Crane: A Journal Exploring Gay Spirituality and a recent participant in Poets Against the War. [Saturday 31 May performance only.]

>> Bay Area deejay Bearzbub has contributed a set disc of cut-n-paste plunderphonic and mp3 mixes from a variety of underground artists [ Osymyso / Dictionaraoke / 386DX / Snuggle This! Project ].

Readers' performance are scheduled to be ASL-interpreted.

The Triangle Artists Group is an organization of more than 100 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer artisans from the Washington-Baltimore area and includes a wide spectrum of visual, literary, and performance arts.
