KWISATZ HADERACH by Mark Kinney and James W. King 25 October 2001 ttto "Don't You Want Me" by Human League Ideally sung by a female for the first verse, male for the second, representing Lady Jessica and Paul Atreides. While I intended to focus on the relationship between Lady Jessica and Paul, James King had some good ideas as far as addressing the entire story, so those are included. Though I personally prefer the two-verse version, anyone who really wants to perform this may use whichever version they prefer. (Jessica) I was a concubine to Duke Leto Atreides When I had you The Reverend Mother told me you were not meant to be But what was I to do? My Duke wanted a son, but my order tells me That it was selfish pride Now on Arrakis, from the Harkonnen we run With the Fremen we hide Take Take advantage Of local superstition So that we can survive here Take Take advantage Of hope that you will lead them To the future without fear But I see it in your eyes The visions undenied Don't march to the jihad or we will all be sorry Are you the Kwisatz Had'rach? Are you really their Mahdi? Are you the Kwisatz Had'rach? Can you look where I can't see? (Optional Baron Harkonnen verse) To Arrakis we lured poor House Atreides Then we took all they had Rabban is staying busy, yes, they call him the Beast When I replace him they'll be glad But even here on Geidi Prime I am quite disturbed At the news I hear Mere rabble from the desert routing Harkonnen's best What do I have to fear? Spice Spice must flow, now The Spacing Guild is nervous And that's what's really scary Spice Spice must flow, now To become peronally involved The Emperor is ready With Sardaukar in tow To Arrakis we will go If they don't settle down then they will all be sorry So who's this "Kwisatz Had'rach"? Is he really their "Mahdi"? Who IS this Kwisatz Had'rach? Can he look where few can see? (Paul) I am the only son of Duke Leto Atreides This much is true But I saw visions of armies led by Muad'dib And now that is me too In war against the Harkonnen we're ready to fight To every man and sietch There's only one more thing that I have to do The future's in my reach Change Change the water I have to know what's coming I have to pierce that curtain Change Change the water If I survive this night Then we will both be certain It's all clear to me now We must persist somehow And march to the jihad or we will all be sorry I am the Kwisatz Had'rach I can look where you can't see I am the Kwisatz Had'rach I go to my destiny
