KILLFILE by Mark Kinney 5 October 2001 to Leslie Fish's tune to Rudyard Kipling's "Dane Geld" It is sometimes a temptation To a dull imagination To make oneself feel bigger acting snide Making stupid little quips Sends them off on ego trips And they think the one they taunt will run and hide And that's called asking to be killfiled And the people who ask it explain They feel themselves superior, meanwhile Other posters view them with disdain It is always a temptation To a mind full of creation To respond fully in kind with a foul troll But this path has no end Just loops round and round again So instead into USENET they make a hole And that is called using the killfile And it has always been the same That when one makes use of the killfile One gets rid of idiot flames Are you paid to be this snotty? Or is it just a hobby? Either way, it's time you left my sight I just hit one quick button It is really, really nothing To make you go away, goodbye, goodnight And now then, welcome to my killfile Where no more will you waste my time You are no longer needed, full of expletive deleted And your waste of bandwidth is a crime
