THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AT CONCAVE Mark Kinney 12 August 2001 to the tune of "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" (Bobby Russell) I headed down to Park City Finally the last weekend of February To the Park Mammoth for that relaxacon All my friends they said hello One of the main reasons that I'd go To Concave, to remember good times past and gone Little did any of us know The storm front swept in fast and low Thunder and lighting and tornadoes ravaged the land We all realized without a doubt On Saturday night when the lights went out It'd be a con to make me glad I'm a fan CHORUS That's the night that the lights went out at Concave That's the night we had a hell of a bash That's why I go to this back woods southern con Fun and friends even if the electric grid's smashed We all wandered and we hit the pool In emergency lights we thought it cool Several people swimming in barely a stitch 'Cause the dark brings down some inhibitions Along with the innebriations Then we thought to wander the forest dark as pitch We marched off to the tilt house site Trudging through the woods as the lightning'd strike I guess wearing that old tin hat wasn't so smart But I endured with nary a spark To that refugee from an amusement park In puddles of water and mud, see now I lost my heart Tried to go back along the railroad tracks Wound up taking the long way back All my friends took my coat and asked me "Why'd you do it?" I was sick of sinking in the mud for miles So I looked at them with a great big smile And said "You wanted to stay but I said 'Screw it!'" CHORUS We all hit the road next day Took a long time because the highway Was flooded here and there, and Dixie Highway was blocked And the tornadoes caused somber contemplation But in future years brought that slight temptation To convince Ray to go play with the fusebox CHORUS CHORUS
